Mr Bennet leant back in his chair, stifling a large yawn. These early mornings do me no good, he told himself, picking up a large stack of paper. Expenditure. Not the most thrilling reading material before breakfast.
He glanced around his study - it was not in best condition. Lizzy had always encouraged him to give it a bit of a tidy, and now that she wasn't here, it just slipped his mind. He hated to admit it, but he was rather lost without his Lizzy.
It was a quiet day in the household, and so far he had not been disturbed.

"Mr Bennet!" Mrs Bennet yelled, charging into his library. She huffed at the lack of reply she received from her husband. "Lizzy writes to us from Pemberley!" she proceeded to regale her husband with the tales of Lizzy's important visitors. She glossed over the less important parts of the letter, until she reached the point of her excitement. "And they will hold a ball! Lots of very important people will be in attendance and I think it is of utmost importance that we attend. Kitty and Mary will be married," she insisted.

"My dear Mrs Bennet," Mr Bennet sighed, laying aside his papers, "You must be aware that your daughter sends letters to others as well as yourself. Lizzie has already informed me of this engagement, and indeed has already begged my acceptance of the invitation." He reached over and poured himself a cup of tea which Hill had brought to his study, as she was known to every morning.

"Then we must hasten to Pemberley, Mr Bennet!" Mrs Bennet screeched, "You sit in your office drinking tea when there are important preparations to be made!" She bustled around, not quite doing anything in particular as she did not know what to do with herself. "Oh do hurry Mr Bennet," she scolded him before removing herself from his library.
